Your Common Bathroom Installation Questions Answered
A full bathroom installation typically takes between five and ten working days, depending on the scope of work, the condition of the existing bathroom, and whether trades such as plastering and tiling are involved. Strip-out of the existing bathroom is usually completed on day one, with first-fix plumbing and any structural work following. Second-fix, tiling, sanitaryware fitting, and final commissioning follow in sequence. Our team coordinates all trades and manages the project from start to finish, keeping disruption to a minimum and communicating progress throughout.
In most cases, a bathroom renovation does not require planning permission as it is considered an internal alteration. However, if your property is listed, or if you are making structural changes such as removing a loadbearing wall or adding a new window, planning or listed building consent may be required. Building regulations do apply to certain aspects of bathroom work — in particular, electrical installations in bathrooms must comply with Part P, and any work affecting drainage must meet Part H. Our team handles all necessary certifications as part of the project.
A full supply-and-fit bathroom service includes design consultation, supply of all sanitaryware, fixtures, and fittings, strip-out of the existing bathroom, first-fix plumbing including waste and supply pipework, tiling of walls and floor, installation of bath, shower, toilet, and basin, second-fix plumbing and electrical connections, fitting of extractor fan and heated towel rail, and a full clean-up on completion. We can also coordinate plastering, flooring, and decoration where required. A free 3D design service is available to help you visualise the finished result before any work begins.
In most cases, you will not have access to your bathroom for the majority of the installation period. For properties with a single bathroom, we work as efficiently as possible to minimise the disruption period, and can often schedule work so that facilities are restored at the end of each working day. For larger projects or full bathroom replacements, we recommend making temporary arrangements for washing facilities if available. We discuss the works programme with you in advance so you can plan accordingly.
