Full and Partial House Rewiring by NICEIC Registered Electricians
Old wiring is one of the leading causes of house fires in the UK. If your property has rubber-insulated cables, aluminium wiring or an installation that has not been upgraded since the 1980s, it may no longer meet current safety standards and should be assessed by a qualified electrician. Our NICEIC-registered electricians carry out full and partial house rewires with a planned, phased approach designed to minimise disruption to your household. All new wiring is installed to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations standards, a new consumer unit is included as standard, and all work is notified to building control under Part P. A full Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion, backed by our 10-year rewiring guarantee.

Your Common Rewiring Questions Answered
The cost of a full house rewire in the UK typically ranges from £2,500 to £6,000 for an average three-bedroom home, depending on the size of the property, ease of access, and regional labour rates. Larger properties or those with complex wiring requirements will cost more. The price includes all new cabling, a new consumer unit, sockets, switches, and the required building regulations inspection and sign-off certificate. We provide free, detailed quotes before any work begins.
Key signs that a property may need rewiring include frequently tripping circuit breakers, an old fuse box with ceramic fuses instead of modern MCBs, no RCD protection, flickering or dimming lights, discolouration or scorch marks around sockets and switches, a persistent burning smell, or wiring that has not been updated in 25 or more years. Properties built before 1970 with original wiring are particularly likely to need attention. An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is the recommended first step — it will formally assess the safety of your installation and identify any remedial work required.
A full rewire of a typical three-bedroom semi-detached home in the UK takes between five and ten days, depending on the size of the property and ease of cable access. Larger homes, those with solid walls, or properties with complex layouts will typically take longer. Our electricians work to a planned programme to minimise the time your home is without power and will discuss the works schedule with you in detail before starting. Most rewires can be completed with you still living in the property, although some disruption to walls and ceilings is unavoidable.
In most cases, you do not need to move out during a house rewire, although it will be disruptive. There will be periods each day where sections of the property are without power, and some dust and minor damage to wall plaster is unavoidable where cables are chased in or replaced. Many homeowners choose to stay and manage the disruption, particularly during warmer months. If you have young children or the property will be without heating or hot water for extended periods, temporary alternative accommodation is worth considering. We plan each rewire in detail to minimise daily disruption to your household.
